Dad's Suprise 60th Birthday

While we were home, we celebrated my dad's 60th birthday.  Dad wanted to know early in the week what my mom was cooking while we were going to be home so Mom told him that we would probably go out on Saturday since she would be tired after the shower so Dad went with it and made it easy.  My mom and sister planned the event and did a great job.  Mom sent out evite invitations to a bunch of people to meet at the Pizza Hut.  I wasn't sure if he was going to figure out what all was going on, but we managed to keep it a secret.  Dad was very surprised and I think he had a really good time. 

We put up a bunch of pictures of Dad over the years and he got a bunch of funny gifts and cards.

Unfortunately, my sister ended up getting diagnosed with the flu on Saturday and she was really bummed at not being able to go. So, she came, despite how bad she felt and had to wear a mask (as you can see from the pics). Blesss her heart!

I enjoyed hearing stories of my dad over the years.  Some of which I just found way too funny.  I think my dad is one of the funniest people I know! I'm glad I got to hear him being roasted by his buddies!  ;-)

On his actual birthday (a couple days later), my mom got him a "Older than dirt" cake and took it to work.

I have more updated pictures for the nursery but when we got home after the shower, I just couldn't stop going through the items and putting everything in there proper spot.  :-)

Baby Shower Recap and More Catching Up

We have been very busy in the Wheawill house and it has been non stop since the nice baby shower that was thrown in Grundy on the 19th of Feb.  So, I think I'll start there since that's where I left off.  I was really looking forward to going back home. We hadn't been since Thanksgiving and had a lot of fun things planned. I had family that made the long trip to come as well. My Aunt Susan and Uncle Rob came in from Raleigh, NC and my Aunt Margaret and Uncle Brian came from Atlanta, all of whom I hadn't seen in over 8 months.
We had such a nice weekend in Grundy and it went by way too quickly.  The ladies at the church that I grew up in threw an awesome baby shower.  Matt, Baby W, and I feel very well loved.  I am fortunate to have been raised with such a wonderful church family. 

The ladies from the church really outdid themselves and Baby W's room is filled full of all kinds of things.  I'm sitting in his room right now admiring all his goodies as I write and upload pictures for the blog post. 

I loved the decorations.  My understanding is that they may have received some inspiration from the blog.  :-)  The theme was sports related with emphasis on VT Hokies. 

The food was delicious.  The ladies at the church are all such fabulous cooks.  Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to share other than the cute cake.

Here I am with such good friends that I grew up with at church.  Beth (on the far right of the pic) and I are a day apart in age and have literally known each other since birth.  In fact, we first met at the hospital.  It meant a lot to me that she wanted throw this shower for me.  Thanks Beth!  Erica (in the center of the pic) and I also grew up together at church.  We went to the same elementary school and were involved in all the same activities as we grew up.  Again, it was a honor to have Erica help with my shower.  Thanks Erica!

They did a wishing tree where everyone could write their wishes to Baby W.  I have so much enjoyed reading them.  A lot wished for him to be a good sleeper.  Me too!  :-)  Also, Ali wished for him to be good friends with Wyatt.  Me too!  :-)  There were many more sweet wishes.

Baby W received so many nice gifts.  I'm not going to overload you with too many pictures of me opening all of Baby W's gifts.  There are way more but here are just a few of them.

I gave the ladies pastel scarves as a hostess gift and they were all so sweet, making over them.  :-)  I was happy that they seemed to like the scarf.  Here I am with these beautiful, lovely, generous ladies! 

I just can't wait to meet this special little boy who is obviously well loved and already spoiled with all kinds of goodies.  I look forward to our next trip to Grundy with Baby W.  Hopefully, we can bring him back in the late summer to introduce him to all these generous people that showered him with much love and gifts!

Week 31

Week 31

Size of baby: size of a squash again so I looked it up somewhere else and found the size of a 3 lb bag of chicken so there you go! 

This week: It's been a pretty good week.  I kept thinking that it was a day ahead.  I thought it was Thursday on Wednesday and so on, which seems to make the week a little longer.  Matt and I are busy every week taking our classes.  We should be well educated by the time Baby W joins us.  Hopefully, we'll be somewhat prepared for our new crazy life!  :-)  We also started deciding to have date nights more regularly on the weekends.  We are trying to come up with all kinds of fun places to have dinner dates prior to Baby W. 

The other projects that we are working on around the house includes cleaning out closets and doing some chores outside and inside.  I'm pretty happy with out progress so far.  Not much left on the list! 

I've felt good this week but feel huge!  I'm having a little bit of hip pain and pain in my lower back.  I've started sleeping with more pillows which seem to be working well.  Despite my lack of sleep, Matt tells me I snore pretty good these days.  :-)

Oh, and Baby W moved positions.  I am feeling him like crazy so I'm happy about that.  I think his head is still down but I guess we'll find out at the doctor next week.

Bad Computer Night

After trying to update the blog and get some long overdo posts up here, I am going to have to call it a night without the updates.  :-( My computer is not cooperating at all and despite spending an hour with it, I think I'm right where I started.  Also, who knew that there is a space limit and apparently I've exceeded the "free" space.  Anyways, stay tuned.  More to come soon.

Week 29 and Week 30

So, I'm behind.  Here are both weekly pregnancy posts in one:

Week 30

Size of baby: size of a squash, again

Total Weight Gained: 16.5 pounds

This week: I look tired in my picture.  Matt took it in the morning before I headed to work and I think I was still waking up. :-)

I had another doctor's appt this week. Everything still looking good. My blood pressure was great (120/64 just like last appt), despite the fact that I have now started having swelling in my feet and hands. I wasn't happy with my weight gain, but the doctor didn't seem to mind.  My stomach measured where it should.  I actually ended up having a quick ultrasound as Baby W didn't move very much on Wednesday (the day and night before the appt).  Since I have started feeling him move, I've not had a problem where it takes hours for me to get him to move. Normally if I poke or press on my stomach or drink OJ/soda, he gets going. So, I told my doctor that it took me over 2 hours to get him to move and he still only kicked a couple times then went silent for a long period of time.  It continued for about 24 hours so I mentioned it to my doctor at my appt.  She then tried pressing around on my stomach to get him to move and she couldn't get him either. His HR was good at 152. She told me that she thought we should do an ultrasound just to be sure that I had enough amniotic fluid and I wasn't having any issues. So, I had my 4th ultrasound! Got all good news. Fluid is good/normal and he is in a really akward position that is causing him to not be able to move.   Crazy little baby has himself with his head and feet stuck down and his butt just straight up (maybe a gymnast?). Dr. D was impressed at how well he was breathing and using his lungs and thought a little more mature than a typical 30 week. In order to compare fluid which seems to be her concern, I will have another (5th) ultrasound next time at my appt for Week 32. She also told me to take it easy and not overdo it and make sure to eat regularly.  I don't have any problems with the eating part and I'm making sure to rest and put my feet up.  Other than that excitement, not much to report.  My new pregnancy craving is blueberries of all things.  Luckily, they were on sale when Matt went to the store for me this weekend.  :-)
 
 
Week 29

This week: Well, this week was a blur which is why I didn't get a post in. Matt and I went to Grundy for a very fun weekend.  The ladies at the church threw me a wonderful baby shower (pics and more details to come soon).  We had family in town so got some good visiting.  And, we threw my dad a surprise 60th birthday dinner (pics to come soon).  We were very busy and so much enjoyed being home.  Unfortunately, my poor sister got the flu so while I got to see her, she was mostly in bed.  :-( 

Matt and I got home and I was so excited to go through all the goodies.  I put them all away the night that I got home.  The nursery looks awesome and I can't wait to share pics of it very soon as well.  However, in true Stephanie fashion, I didn't stop until I had it done and I really wore myself out.  So, I paid the price for several days following.  But, it was just way too exciting and Baby W has all kinds of goodies. 

Work was a little busy as my boss took the week off so I was covering for him.  I had to take the week off from blogging, but hopefully I can get caught up soon.  :-)
