Happy Halloween!

Fall is my favorite time of year. Fall means: VT football (not going to discuss this past weeks game because no one wants to read my ranting), wonderful weather (I love to wear long sleeves and jeans and no coat), absolutely breathtaking scenery with the fall leaves in the mountains (probably the best time to drive to Grundy), eating chili (yum!), fall decorations (love decorating), Thanksgiving (Turkey and all the fixin's...yum), even the smell outside during the fall.

Here are some of my Fall decorations:

I must admit that Halloween is not my favorite holiday...although I like to decorate for it. I do not love the dressing up part. Last year, I went as a pirate and Matt went as Charlie Brown from "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". I remember last year I didn't have a costume until late and thanks to a friend, I borrowed the pirate costume which was very itchy. I'm a girl who's style has to include "comfortable" so wearing an itchy costume or painting my face is not exciting at all. Not to mention, I love to shop and spend money on clothes but spending money on a Halloween costume is really hard for me. I would rather buy myself a sweater. (I'm such a party pooper, I know!) So, this year, yet again Matt and I had no plans of what we were going to be. Friday, I was wearing some candy corn earrings for Halloween at work and that got me to thinking, I could make my costume and go as candy corn. (Yes, make it! I would go buy fabric and get to it! My deal to myself was that it had to be less than $15. I only spent $9.50 total and it took up about 2 hours of my time...not that bad! Don't look too close. There are a lot of mistakes. I used the no sew stuff that you iron.)

Matt didn't have a clue what he was going to be but his sister had given him an idea that a friend did back in college....wear a trash bag and put some yellow balloons on them and be poop with corn in it. So, Matt tells me that's what he was going to be and despite me talking him out of it, it was the easiest costume and he thought it was funny. So, I guess you could say our theme was corn. Too bad I don't have a picture of Matt but I'm sure you get the picture. :-)

So, we went to a Halloween party and I have to say that all of the costumes were really cute (much better than ours). But, yet again, I didn't get my camera out. I'm trying to be better at this.

We didn't dress Wally up but as you can see, he was very interested in what we were doing. He doesn't fit into dog costumes. I joked that I was going to make him be a pig because his tail curls in the back and he truly is a pig with all food. He has become quite the beggar.

Pumpkin Carving

This year Matt and I were late in carving our pumpkin. The weekends have been so rainy and I don't want that mess in our house. So, yesterday, the weather was perfect!! :-)

We do a VT every year. Not very original. Maybe one day when we have kids, we'll do something else or maybe we'll stick to our VT.

Go HOKIES!

The cHokies!

Ok, I'm a little bitter over our loss and my title is no way for a true VT fan to talk but come on! I did not like the game last nights at all. :-( Yuck!! I don't know what to say but Georgia Tech was pumped and they came out strong. Tyrod did pretty well, even helping score a TD. And, Ryan Williams is so fast! I wish I saw more of Bud Foster's defense during the 2nd half but, again, oh well.

With me working a lot this weekend, (1o hours, 2 days in a row. Don't feel sorry for me though because I volunteered for the punishment and I'll be happy in a couple weeks when I get paid.) Matt planned everything for a little football party. We had Mary Angela's pizza (the best pizza in the world! No competition!), brownies that were cooked to perfection (Go Matt!), and some delicious carrot cake that Matt's Dad brought. So, Matt may have made fun of my blog to some of his friends. So, I my response last night was that my next blog post would definitely have something about quarterback kneeling. (I know, I know...it's done all the time. VT does it too. Blah, blah, blah.) :-)

So, I'll say this...the Wikipedia defintion is this:
"In American football, a quarterback kneel, also called taking a knee, genuflect offense, or victory formation occurs when the quarterback immediately kneels to the ground after receiving the snap. It is primarily used to run the clock down, either at the end of the first half or the game itself, in order to preserve a lead or a win. Although it generally results in a loss of a yard and uses up a down, it minimizes the risk of a fumble, which would give the other team a chance to score."

I wanted to see GT play it out...not waste the last 1 min 47 seconds but I'm sure I would feel differently if the score was reversed in VTs favor.

VT losing was the most disappointing part of the football weekend with a close 2nd disappointment, being Alabama coming up to #1 ranked team according to the AP Top 25. Yuck, again! I think my attitude towards Alabama may have little to do with their football team but living in Tuscaloosa for a year, my hatred is well justified.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Lazy Rainy Day

Today was my day off since I am working this weekend. It is pretty rainy and dreary out today and since we have been out of town for 2 weekends in a row, my plan was to relax and catch up on TV in between catching up on laundry and other chores.

I spent the morning recovering from a little stomach bug that hit me yesterday at work. I had to leave a couple hours early after suffering from a stomach ache all day. My wonderful husband came home from work to find me in bed yesterday so he fixed me soup for dinner and bought me some delicious banana pudding. I seem to be feeling a lot better this afternoon so I'm on the mend. Enough about that!

I did run out and do some errands for an hour or two this afternoon. Nothing fun, just grocery shopping and I hate grocery shopping. It wasn't too bad since I went in the middle of the weekday which meant a little less crowded. I bought our pumpkin today so hopefully the weather will cooperate so we can carve it one evening in the next few days.

Other than laundry, chores, and all, Wally and I are lounging on the couch catching up with shows on the DVR. I also bought myself a People magazine at the grocery today.

Hope you are having a great Thursday. Tomorrow starts the weekend!! I'll be helping move a pharmacy. Very exciting. Have a great weekend!

Love those Hokies and Happy Birthday Meredith

This weekend Matt and I traveled to Blacksburg to see the Hokies beat Boston College. We met my sister and her new boyfriend, Seth, and my parents. Saturday, we got up early so we could go to the grocery to get our final tailgating items. It was such a good day. Happy Birthday Meredith! We had a great time at the game and of course it helped that Virginia Tech looked really good.

Sunday we had breakfast and then got home early to do some cleaning and to pick up Wally. Wally loves it when he can go to the pet resort but is exhausted when he gets home.

Trying this out...

I first thought about creating a blot last March, but didn't know what in the world I would blog about. I so much enjoy reading others blogs. So, since I read others, I decided that maybe I can do this. I don't know that I have enough to blog about or even that I will be able to keep up with it. But I'll try this out!
